Suffolk County rival Dowling College made the trip to the campus of Adelphi University for the second game of three in the series to be played against the Panthers. The Golden Lions jumped to an early lead, and Adelphi was never able to recover; falling to Dowling 5-1. With the loss, the Panthers drop to 21-12, 13-6 in East Coast Conference (ECC) play, while Dowling improves to 19-10, 10-6 ECC.
The Golden Lions held the Panthers at zero until the bottom of the sixth when Matthew Kenney reached base on a throwing error by the second basemen. Bill Melillo followed with an RBI triple to drive the senior in and chip away at Dowling's two run lead to 2-1. Adelphi, however, would not round home again in the game and allow three more runs for the 5-1 loss.
Jason Intelisano was credited with loss after going five innings pitched, giving up one earned run and striking out two. The starter was assisted by Salvatore Persico, John Arciuolo, Teddy Rohrs and Oren Rasowsky, who combined for four innings of relief, three strikeouts and two earned runs.
The Panthers will come back to life when they play host to Bloomfield College on April 22 at 3:30 p.m.
