The Adelphi University baseball team played host to Northeast-10 conference member St. Anselm on Monday, March 23 on William J. Bonomo Memorial Field. The Panthers played St. Anselm scoreless through six innings before the visitor's put two runs on the board and handed Adelphi a 3-0 loss. The defeat drops the Panthers to 6-5, while St. Anselm improves to 3-5 overall.
Keith Couch tossed five scoreless innings, allowing six hits, striking out six and walking one. Rob Nixon took over pitching duties in the sixth, shutting out St. Anselm for another inning, before the Hawks put two runs on the board. In all Nixon threw three innings, giving up two runs, on just two hits and striking out two.
Adelphi managed six hits in the game, four of which came from Rob Paccione and Ryan Boelsen who each went 2-4 at the plate.
The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, March 25 when they play host to Queens College at 3:30 pm on William J. Bonomo Memorial Field.
