Panthers Split On Day Four of Rebel Games

Kissimee, FL - The Adelphi Softball team dropped a 1-0 decision to Minnesota State-Moorhead, before holding on for a 2-1 win over Southwest Minnesota State in day four of the Rebel Games in Kissimee, Florida. The Panthers, who received votes in the latest NFCA Top 25 Poll, are now 5-3 on the season.

Game One
Minn. State broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third on a solo homerun by Katie Howland. The Panthers left runners on in the later innings, including a double by Byster in the sixth inning, but they were unable to score.

Junior Christine Robinson allowed just three hits, with one run, one earned, no walks and five strikeouts.

Adelphi had no runs on seven hits with no errors. Minn. State had one run on three hits with one error.

Game Two
The Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning thanks in part to two Mustang errors. Junior Katie Brophy was hit by pitch, then advanced to second on a wild pitch, before scoring on a RBI double by senior Diana DiPiano. Sophomore Stephanie Byster scored DiPiano on a SAC play.

SW Minnesota gave Adelphi a scare in the bottom of the sixth as they scored on a double by Kristen Braden to score Jessica Paczosa. But with two outs, the final batter flied out to centerfield to secure the Panther win.

Sophomore Leighann Bell pitched 5.2 innings to record the win, allowing just one hit and striking out three.

Adelphi had two runs on three hits with no errors. SW Minnesota State (8-10) had one run on two hits with two errors.

The Panthers return to action tomorrow for their final day at the Rebel Games as they face Nebraska-Omaha at 1:00 p.m., followed by Minnesota-Duluth at 3:00 p.m.
