The Racketmen Drop First Spring Match To Carthage, 5-4

Orlando, FL - In their first match of the 2009 spring tour of Florida, Men's Tennis was bested by the Carthage College Red Men, 5-4. Sebastian Nieves and Bandar Kayali in third and fifth spot singles respectfully picked up wins in tough outing. With the loss, the Panthers drop to 1-0 while Carthage improves to 8-1.

Carthage's Jack Schiro defeated Tomasz Walczak, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, at number-one singles. Carthage's Sammy Ramoni defeated Alex Molotsky, 6-0, 607, 6-1, at number-two singles. Sebastian Nieves defeated the Red Men's Joey Perkins, 6-0, 6-1, at number-three singles. Carthage's Matt Whiteside defeated Anton Voynov, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, at number-four singles. The Red Men's Andy Schwenke was defeated by Bandar Kayali, 6-3, 6-2, at number-five singles, and teammate Alex McLean won over Leonard Bruno at number-six singles, 6-3, 6-3.

Carthage's number-one doubles team of Ramoni and J.T. Delk lost to Walczak and Molotsky, 8-2. The Red Men's number-two doubles team of Schiro and Schwenke lost to Nieves/Voynov, 8-6, while the number-three tandem of Whiteside and Nick Boomgarden was an 8-6 winner over Kayali and Joseph Carbone.

The Brown and Gold will continue their tour when they take on Wisconsin - La Crosse, March 16 at 10 am.
