Men's Basketball Wins Seventh In a Row, 75-50

Bronxville, N.Y. - The Adelphi men's basketball team traveled to Bronxville, New York to take on Concordia College in an East Coast Conference contest. The Panthers held the Chargers to just 20 percent shooting in the first half, building a 38-20 halftime lead that led to a 75-50 win. With the victory Adelphi improves to 19-7 overall and 13-4 in the ECC, while Concordia falls to 7-22 overall and 5-12 in the conference.

Adelphi jumped on Concordia early, out scoring the Chargers, 16-6 in the first seven minutes of the game. Concordia would respond with a quick 6-1 run to pull within five points, 17-12, with 9:36 on th clock. However, Adelphi ripped off 13 straight points, capped by a Richard Byrd jumper, to take a 30-12 lead with 3:55 left in the half.

Concordia would get as close as 16 twice in the closing minutes of the first half, but would enter the locker room down 18, 38-20. The Panthers would lead by as many as 33 in the second half, and settled for a 25 point win, 75-50.

Alphonso DuHart was the only Charger in double figures with 13 points, while Dan Cunningham chipped in five points and nine rebounds.

Alvin Vivican led the Panthers with a game-high 24 points, while Byrd added 14 points and seven rebounds. Mike McDuffie and David Akinyooye also reached double figures, scoring 12 and 11 points respectively.

Adelphi returns to action on February 28 when they close out the regular season by hosting C.W. Post.
