Seniors Lead Panthers Past SNHU, 3-1

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's volleyball team rounded out their regular season with a home victory over Southern New Hampshire University. The Panthers defeated the Penmen, 3-1, to improve to 25-8 overall and 14-1 in the Northeast-10.

Prior to the start of the contest, the Panthers honored its senior class which included Anna Gabbard, Audrey Goss, Kelsey Hackett, Jennifer McKenna and Amy Williams

Junior Hilary Pavels led all scorers with 13 kills., followed by Hackett with eight. Junior setter Heather Mau tallied 34 assist with 6 kills, hitting .455, while adding eight digs. Williams had 24 digs, with McKenna contributing 14.

The Panthers rolled through the first two games with idential scores of 25-14, while keeping the Penmen to a negative hitting percentage. However, in game three, the Penmen rallied back, to challenge the Panthers, taking the set, 27-25. Adelphi answered with a 12-3 run to start game four and cruised to a 25-16 win.

The Penmen were led by Kim Rowe with 10 kills. Caitlin Wilson and Ashley Dingle posted 13 digs a piece.

Adelphi closes out the season ranked second in the Northeast-10. The Panthers will compete in the conference tournament, hosted by UMass-Lowell, beginning next Friday, November 13.
