The Adelphi University volleyball team travled to Lakewood, New Jersey on Tuesday, November 3 to take on regional opponent Georgian Court in a non-conference contest. Adelphi dropped a tight first set, before finding a rythmn and picking up a 3-1 victory. With the win the Panthers improve to 23-8 overall, while Georgian Court falls to 22-9.
Adelphi dropped the first set 23-25, as the Georgian Court posted 14 kills to just 10 for the Panthers. However, in the second set Adelphi picked up 15 kills and held Georgian Court to just a .167 attack percentage in a 25-20. The final two games were all Adelphi as Georgian Court could not post an attack percentage better then 0.033, in losing 25-17 and 25-18.
Hilary Pavels led the way with 11 kills and 12 digs, while Patawe Simms also had a strong offensive game with 10 kills. Heather Mau had a game-high 38 assists, as Amy Williams also posted a game-high with 22 digs. Four other player posted double digit dig totals as Bree Popham (17), Pavels, Mau (11) and Jennifer McKenna (10) joined Williams with 10 or more digs.
Adelphi returns to action on Friday, November 6 when they play host to Franklin Pierce at 7:00 pm.
