The Adelphi University volleyball team played host to Northeast-10 Conference rival, Umass-Lowell (UML) on Friday, October 30. The Panthers dropped a tight game one, 25-20, but roared back to take the next three in a row, picking up a 3-1 win. With the victory Adelphi improves to 21-8 overall and 11-1 in conference play, while the Riverhawks fall to 16-9 overall and 8-4 in the NE-10.
Adelphi had a strong game one, racking up 14 kills, but UML was just strong enough to squeak by, registering 18 kills and an attack percentage of of .348 to collect a 25-20 win. Game two and three were won by the host Panthers, with identical scores of 25-14, as Adelphi held UML to negative attack percentages in both games. The third game was back and forth at the start, but again the Panther prevailed, getting 14 kills in the game for a 25-19 match capturing win.
Audrey Goss led the Panthers with 10 kills, while Heather Mau had 34 assists. Amy Williams had a game-high 30 digs as both Bree Popham (12) and Hilary Pavels (11) also reached double figures.
Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, October 31 when they play host to Merrimack at 1:00 pm in Garden City, New York.
