The Adelphi University men's soccer team traveled to Syracuse, New York on Tuesday, October 20 to take on Big East Conference member Syracuse. The Panthers got two goals from Issa Tall, picking up a 2-1 win that pushed Adelphi to 9-2-4 overall, while Syracuse falls to 2-13.
Tall got Adelphi on the board less then a minute into the action, taking a James Diana feed and putting the ball past Syracuse's Ryan Jones. Tall's first tally of the game came just 54 seconds into the action. Roughly 44 minutes later Tall scored again, this time Quintel Gates was credited with the helper, as Tall gave Adelphi a 2-0 edge heading into the half.
Just over ten minutes into the second frame the Orange got on the board as Tom Peregyencev beat Adelphi's Thorne Holder to pull Syracuse within one goal, 2-1. However, Holder and the Panther defense would keep the Orange off the board the rest of the way, securing a 2-1 victory.
Holder made two saves in the win, while Jones picked up five in the loss. The Panthers had a 10-5 edge in shots and took three corner kicks, while the Orange were not awarded any.
Adelphi returns to action on October 30 when they travel to Newark, New Jersey for a 7:00 pm meeting with Atlantic Soccer Conference member NJIT.
