Panthers Win Big, 7-1, Over American International

The Adelphi University field hockey team traveled to Springfield, Massachusetts to take on American International College this evening. The Panthers scored five second half goals en route to the 7-1 victory. The Panthers improve to 10-5 and 5-1 in the Northeast-10, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 4-11 and 2-5 in the NE-10.

American International struck early, 1:48 into the game, when Lisa Duckles found the back of the net to give the Yellow Jackets their only lead of the game. The Panthers would then go on to score seven unanwsered goals. The Panthers first of two second half goals came from Jeanette Heimerle, which was assisted by Natasha Pedzik. With less than three minutes remaining in the first half, Heimerle set up Brittany Kinsley for the score to give the Panthers a one-goal lead headed into the half.

Adelphi would explode for five-second half goals to put the game out of reach. Pedzik and Julianne Gerbino would score a pair of unassisted goal less than a minute a part to open the second half. Adelphi would add their final three goals in the final 23 minutes of regulation. Heirmerle and Gerbino would add their second scores of the game, both unassisted, while Alyssa Conklin would tally her first collegiate goal, coming from Heimerle.

Lucia Vigliotti would stop three shots in 65:15 of time in net, while Kristine Puzio did not need to record a save in her 4:45 between the pipes. Kim Steiner recorded nine saves in the loss for the Yellow Jackets.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, October 17 when they travel to Bentley University for a NE-10 contest starting at 1:00 pm.
