Box Score

Riverdale, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's soccer team traveled to Riverdale, New York on Tuesday, September 30 to take on metro rival Manhattan College. The Panthers led 2-0 at the half and never looked back, collecting a 3-0 victory. The win, Adelphi's fourth in as many game evens the Panthers record at 4-4, while the Jaspers fall to 2-7.

Just over 10 minutes into the action John Koutsounadis slipped the ball into the box, where it was collected by Patrick Figueiredo. Figueiredo pushed the ball past a charging Randall Brobson to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.

At the 36 minute mark Figueiredo struck again, this time with the help of Val Charalambous. Charalambous sent the ball into the Manhattan zone, past the Jasper defense where Figueiredo ran on to it and found himself alone, behind the defense. One-on-one with Manhattan's Brobson, Figueiredo netted his second goal of the evening, giving Adelphi a 2-0 edge at the half.

Figueiredo closed the scoring in the 65th minute as he collected a loose ball in the Jasper box and placed a shot in the upper right corner, out of the reach of Brobson.

Thorne Holder made five saves in the win, picking up his second shut out of the season, while Brobson collected four stops.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, October 4 when they travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for a 1:00 pm meeting with LaSalle.
