Box Score

Garden City, N.Y. - Sophomore Brianne McDonnell tallied three goals to lead the Adelphi University women's soccer team to a 5-1 non-conference win over East Stroudsburg University. The Panthers improve to 5-3-1, while the Warriors fall to 3-4-2.

McDonnell gave the Panthers an early 1-0 lead, as she found the back of the net in the 3rd minute of play. ESU evened the score at 31:56 as Lindsey Foder crossed to Lynda Hicks for the goal. Just under a minute later, McDonnell notched what would be the game-winner on a shot high above the ESU goalie into the top of the net.

In the second half, junior Caitlin Morrison added an insurance goal at 62:25, as she beat an ESU defender and chipped a shot from 18 yards out. In the 64th minute, senior Amanda Herrera's feed to McDonnell led to her third goal of the afternoon. Adelphi found the back of the net once more in the 70th minute as sophomore Kim Volinski battled through three Warrior defenders to blast a shot from 25 yards and past the outstretched arms of the ESU goalkeeper.

Freshman Dorothy Connolly was solid in goal, collecting five saves in 71:48 minutes. Sophomore Angela Matinale made on stop in 18:12 minutes in relief. ESU's Janine Turcio had six saves.

Adelphi is back in action on Wednesday, October 1, as they host Holy Family in non-conference action at 7:00 p.m. on Competition Field.
