Men's Lacrosse Falls to Mercyhurst, 14-8

Erie, PA - The Adelphi University men's lacrosse team traveled to Erie, Pennsylvania on Saturday, May 3 to close out the regular season against East Coast Conference foe Mercyhurst. The Panthers held a 4-3 lead after one quarter of action but could not hold on, falling 14-8. The loss drops Adelphi to 7-5 overall and 3-3 in the ECC.

The Panthers opened the scoring at the 13:54 mark as Marc Burton scored off of a Edward Ege feed. Six minutes later Mercyhurst responded, but Ege put Adelphi back on top, 2-1, with 6:07 to play. The Lakers countered with two straight, taking their first lead of the game, 3-2. However Adelphi closed the first quarter with back-to-back goals from Ian Kuchta and Chad Henry, both assisted by Brandon Butler.

From there Mercyhurst turned up the defense, holding Adelphi scoreless until the final four minutes of the third quarter, as the Lakers reeled off seven straight goals to take a 10-4 lead. The Panthers countinued to battle, but could get no closer then five, falling 14-8.

Ege led the Panthers with four points (1G, 3A), while Burton (2G, 1A) and Butler (3A) chipped in three points each. Devin Schneiderbauer saw the bulk of the time in goal, making 10 saves in the loss.
