Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past Southern Connecticut, 21-4

New Haven, Conn. - Sixteen different players scored, including 10 of 11 starters as the #3 Adelphi University women's lacrosse team defeated Southern Connecticut State tonight. The Panthers improve to 8-0 overall, while the Owls fall to 2-7.

The Panthers were led offensively by freshman Kaitlyn Carter with four goals and two assists. Junior Rachel Ray and sophomore Danielle Kafarski had two goals each, with Ray adding two assists.

Adelphi outscored Southern Connecticut 17-2 in the first 30 minutes of play. The Panthers riddled the Owls goalkeeper, Lisa Corso, with 29 shots in the first half and held a 20-10 ground ball advantage while committing just five turnovers.

In the second half, the Panthers still held the Owls to just nine shots, as they cruised to a 21-4 win.

Sophomore Caitlin Fitzpatrick made three saves in the first half for the win. Junior Christina Kozakiewicz had four saves in the second half.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, April 12, as they travel to Massachusetts to take on #6 ranked Stonehill College.
