Freshmen Kaitlyn Carter and Michelle Ceraso each tallied four goals as #3 Adelphi University topped Molloy College, 13-2, tonight at Shuart Stadium. The Panthers close our their regular season home schedule with a 15-0 record and 5-0 in the ECC. The Lions fall to 10-6 and 2-4.
Sophomore Holly Burke put the Panthers on the board at 28:55 on a feed from senior Megan Metelenis. The next three Adelphi goals were assisted by junior Rachel Ray who then put the Panthers up, 5-0, on a free position goal at 19:09. Adelphi held an 7-0 lead at the half.
Ceraso and Carter combined for the first five goals of the second half to push Adelphi's lead to 12-0. Molloy's Kristie Sosnowski collected the first of her two goals with 5:43 left in regulation to prevent the shutout.
Sophomore Caitlin Fitzpatrick made eight saves, while Alicia Frisch had 10 stops for the Lions.
The Panthers return to action this Friday, May 2, as they take on #1 C.W. Post at 3:00 p.m. The winner will determine the ECC regular season champion.
