Baseball Blanks Kutztown, 6-0

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University baseball team played host to Kutztown University on Thursday, April 17 on William J. Bonomo Memorial Field. The Panthers collected 11 hits, scored six runs and had five pitchers combine to throw nine shutout innings in a 6-0 win. With the victory Adelphi improves to 14-20 overall.

The game was quiet for the first three innings as niether team was able to get on the board. However, that changed in the bottom of the fourth as Adelphi hung two runs on Kutztown. Rob Paccione doubled to left center and was driven in on the next play by a Ryan Boelsen single to right. Later in the inning a Matt Kenney double to center brought home Pat O'Neill, giving the Panthers a 2-0 cushion.

Adelphi scored their third run in the bottom of the fifth, taking advantage of a Kutztown throwing error. In the bottom of the sixth the Panthers put the game out of reach, scoring two more runs on a Joe Maranino sacrifice fly and a Mike Colonna bases loaded walk.

That was more then enough offense as Mike Bartlett, Jason Arciuolo, Teddy Rohrs, Rob Nixon and Jason Intelisano teamed up to shut down the Kutztown offense. Bartlett went five innings, allowing just four hits to collect the win.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, April 19 when they travel to Dobb's Ferry, New York for a doubleheader against Mercy.
