The Adelphi University men's lacrosse team traveled to Gaffney, South Carolina to take on third ranked Limestone College on Saturday, March 8. The Panthers fell behind, 6-0 after one quarter and never recovered, falling 17-5. The loss drops Adelphi to 1-2 overall, while Limestone improves to 4-0.
Limestone held advantages in shots (47-27) and ground balls (48-22), were 18-21 in clears, and 6-11 in extra-man opportunities. Adelphi won 14 of the 24 faceoffs, and was 12-16 in clears.
Limestone's Allen Vaughn scored a game-high six goals, while Brendan Storrier and Justin Haworth recorded three goals apiece. Storrier led the team with three assists, as Jake Rogalia tallied two. Saint goalkeeper James Tuohy posted 12 saves.
Dale Pescitelli scored three of Adelphi's five goals for Adelphi, as Edward Ege and Marc Burton each scored once. Jessie Corben was 13-23 in faceoffs for the Panthers with 3 ground balls. Matt Giordano had a team-high four ground balls. Adelphi goalkeeper Drew Smith had nine saves, while Devin Schneiderbauer picked up four.
Adelphi returns to action on March 11, when they take on Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, North Carolina at 1:00 pm.
