The Adelphi men's basketball team traveled to Flushing, New York on February 20 to take on East Coast Conference opponent Queens College. The Panthers shot 51 percent from the field in the first half, including 72 percent from beyond the arc to enter the half with a 41-21 edge on the way to a 82-45 win. With the victory Adelphi improves to 15-9 overall and 11-6 in ECC play, while Queens falls to 4-20 overall and 2-15 in conference action.
Lamont Lans led Queens with 14 points and six rebounds, while Mike Liander chipped in nine points and seven boards.
Richard Byrd led all players with a career-high 26 points, he also pulled down seven misses and handed out four assists. Chris Diasparra also went for double figures, scoring 16 points on 6-7 shooting, including 4-4 from deep, and added seven assists and four rebounds. Alvin Vivican also chipped in nine points and four assists.
Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, February 23 when they travel to Oakdale, New York for a 3:00 pm meeting with Dowling.
