Adelphi Women Top Bridgeport, 60-49

Garden City, N.Y. - Senior Danielle Parks registered 14 points off the bench, including 3-for-3 from beyond the arc to lead the Adelphi University women's basketball team to a 60-49 win over the University of Bridgeport tonight at the Center for Recreation and Sports. The Panthers improve to 4-1 and 2-0 in league play, while the Purple Knights fall to 0-4 and 0-1 in the ECC.

Senior Lisa Manetta had 13 points and three assists, while sophomore Ashley Caiafa chipped in 12 points, including 6-6 from the charity stripe, to go along with nine rebounds.

The Panthers jumped out to a 6-0 lead capped by a jumper from Caiafa at 17:31. The Purple Knights answered with a 10-2 run through 14:46. Two made buckets by senior Jasmine Travers put Adelphi up for good as they held on for a seven point lead, 30-23, at the end of the first half.

Adelphi continued its rally in the second half, eventually extending its lead to 17 points, with 5:13 left on the clock. The Panthers dominated the boards, pulling down 38 rebounds, led by senior Serita Lee with game-high 14. In comparison the Purple Knights had 28. Both teams were plagued with turnovers, but Adelphi compensated with a 44.4 percent field percentage. They also shot 81 percent from the foul line.

Bridgeport was led by Shannon Malone with 14 points and six rebounds. Sandra Dziurdzia was the only other player in double figures with 12 points and six rebounds.

The Panthers return to action on Monday, December 8, as they travel to Pleasantville, New York to take on Pace University at 7:00 p.m.
