Men's Basketball Loses to Lynn, 68-60

Boca Raton, FL - The Adelphi University men's basketball team traveled to Boca Raton, Florida on Tuesday, December 30 to take on Lynn University. The Panthers led by as many as 11 points in the first half, before falling to Lynn, 68-60. The loss drops Adelphi to 5-4, while Lynn improves 9-2.

With the score tied 6-6, in the first two David Akinyooye free throws sparked an 18-7 run that would give the Panthers an 11 point edge, 24-13 with 6:04 left in the first half. The run was capped by a three-point play from Steffon Farley that included a dunk.

Over the final six minutes of the half Lynn turned the tables on Adelphi, out scoring the Panthers 14-6, entering the half trailing by three points, 30-27, thanks to four late free throws.

The game stayed close in the early going of the second half, as the score was tied at 37 with 13:08 left to play. From there Lynn used an 8-0 run to take a 45-37 lead before a Richard Byrd triple stopped the run and pulled Adelphi to within five, 45-40. However, Adelphi would get no closer then two the rest of the way, the final time coming with 5:34 on the clock as Byrd converted a lay-up to make the score 52-50.

Chris Hall led Lynn with 16 points, while Michel Vidal chipped in 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Byrd led all players with 23 points and added five rebounds, while Casey Cosgrove notched 11 points and handed out five assists and added five steals.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, January 3 when they travel to Rindge, New Hampshire to take on Franklin Pierce at 3:30 pm.
