The Adelphi University women's basketball team built up a 35-23 half-time lead and never looked back, as they topped NYIT, 69-40. The Panthers improve to 5-2 and 3-0 in the ECC.
Senior Serita Lee led the Panthers with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Ashley Caiafa added 12 points, while senior Jasmine Travers chipped in 11.
Adelphi led from the tip-off, quickly opening up a 9-0 lead. The Panthers led by as much as 16 points, 24-8, on a trifecta by senior Danielle Parks at 11:09. Adelphi maintained a double digit lead through the end of the first half, 35-23.
The Panthers continued its offensive onslaught into the second half, pushing their margin to 22 points, 49-27, on a basket by Travers with 13:53 left in the contest. Adelphi's lead topped out at 29 points, 64-35, on a layup by senior Lisa Manetta with at 4:43.
Madison Robertson was the only NYIT player in double figures with 12 points and three rebounds.
Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, December 13, as they head to Caldwell College. Tip-off is slated for 1:30 p.m.
