The Adelphi University volleyball team traveled to Albany, New York for matches with St. Rose and Southern Connecticut State (SCSU) on Saturday, November 1. Adelphi took out St. Rose in game one in five games (3-2) and then made short work of SCSU, 3-1. The sweep helps the Panthers raise their overall record to 25-9.
The Panthers dropped the first and third sets after they were taken to the 26th and 32nd points respectively, trailing 2-1 after three games. However, Adelphi (24-9) won the fourth set by rattling off four of the final six points and then opened up a 5-0 advantage in the finale and never looked back.
Kelsey Hackett led the way offensively with 14 kills, while Audrey Goss chipped in 13. Heather Mau had a team-high 19 digs and paired that with 42 assists.
Adelphi moved past SCSU in four games, taking control with wins in the first two, 25-21 and 25-17. SCSU turned the tables in the third game with a 25-15 win before Adelphi closed the door on the match with a 25-21 win.
Goss had a great game offensively with 17 kills and just six errors, while Amy Williams picked up 12 digs and Mau recorded 40 assists.
The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, November 4 when they play host to C.W. Post at 7:00 pm.
