Sophomore Kim Volinski came off the bench to tally the game-winning goal to help the Adelphi women's soccer team to a 2-0 conference win over Concordia College last night. The Panthers improve to 8-3-1 and 3-1-1 in the ECC, while the Clippers drop to 4-7 and 0-5 in the league.
Volinski's goal came in the 43rd minute on a feed by sophomore Karen Roveto. The Panthers riddled the Clippers with 12 first-half shots but the score remained 1-0 at the half.
Ten second half shots produced a second goal for the Panthers. Freshman Danielle Bottaro tallied her first collegiate goal on a rebound off the post to push the lead to 2-0 at 77:20.
Freshman goalkeeper Dorothy Connolly made one save in her eighth shutout of the season. Concordia's Aileen Alvear had eight saves.
Adelphi returns to action this Saturday, October 11, hosting Stonehill College at 1:00 pm on Competition Field.
