The Adelphi University volleyball team traveled to Bridgeport, Connecticut on Tuesday, October 7 for an East Coast Conference contest against the University of Bridgeport. The Panthers led 2-1 at the conclusion of the third game, but could not hold on, falling 3-2. The loss drops Adelphi to 14-7 overall and 5-3 in ECC play, while Bridgeport improves to 13-8 overall and 6-2 in conference action.
The Panthers came out cold, dropping the first game, 25-21. But, Adelphi came alive in games two and three posting 13 kills in the second game and 12 kills in the third to pick up 25-18 and 25-20 wins. Bridgeport only posted eight kills in game four, but took advantage of 11 Adelphi attacking errors to knot the action at two games apiece with a 25-23 win. The fifth game was all Purple Knights as the hosts took the match with a 15-10 victory.
Both Kathleen Carney and Hilary Pavels posted double digit kills, with Carney collected 17 kills and Pavels 14. Heather Mau was credited with 40 assists, while Amy Williams had a game-high 30 digs.
Adelphi returns to action on Thursday, October 9 when they play host to Queens College at 7:00 pm.
