The Adelphi University women's soccer team posted a 3-0 win over Stonehill College this afternoon in non-conference action on Competition Field. The Panthers extend their win streak to six and improve to 9-3-1 on the season. The Skyhawks fall to 4-7-1.
Junior Caitlin Morrison's solo shot at 25:54 put the Panthers up midway through the first half. Adelphi's second goal came in the 43rd minute as sophomore Annie Braseth slid a pass to senior Amanda Herrera who chipped it into the left corner net. The Panther offense riddled the Skyhawks with a 14-5 shot advantage in the first stanza which included a 4-2 corner kick advantage.
Adelphi's defense held Stonehill to just two shots in the second half, helping to control the game. The Panthers found themselves in scoring position again, this time in the 72nd minute, as sophomore Emily Dunne tallied the point on a cross from sophomore Brianne McDonnell.
Freshman Dorothy Connolly had three saves, all in the first half, for the Panthers. Stonehill's Marissa Bramwell had 11 stops.
The Panthers have now won six consecutive games, including five shutouts. They return to action on Wednesday, October 15, as they travel to Flushing, New York to take on Queens College in conference play beginning at 3:30 p.m.
