Box Score

Garden City, N.Y. - Senior Lauren Slattery tallied the game-winner, while dishing out two assists to lead the Adelphi University women's soccer team to a 4-0 win over Holy Family tonight at Competition Field. The Panthers improve to 6-3-1. The Tigers drop to 3-6-2.

A 25 minute lightening delay did not phase the Panthers. It took just 15 minutes into the first half for Slattery to put Adelphi up for good on a solo shot from 18 yards out. The Panthers led 1-0 at the half.

Junior Caitlin Morrison added an insurance goal on a feed from Slattery in the 46th minute. Slattery was in the right place again, crossing to senior Erin Klimkowski who found the back of the net at 50:26. Sophomore Brianne McDonnell pushed Adelphi's lead to four in the 56th minute to round out the scoring.

Freshman Dorothy Connolly recorded the win, making three saves in 58:10 minutes in goal. Sophomore Angela Matinale made one stop in 31:50 minutes to preserve the shutout. Holy Family's Michelle Giambrone and Gina Mansi split time in goal with three and four saves, respectively.

Adelphi returns to action this Saturday, October 4, hosting Molloy College at 1:00 pm as part of the University's Homecoming Celebration. In addition, the game marks the first in the month of October for the Panthers "Think Pink" campaign in support of the Jennifer Montgomery Breast Cancer Awareness Event. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game. Jennifer is scheduled to sing the national anthem prior to the start of the game.
