Volleyball Blanks Queens, 3-0

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University volleyball team played host to East Coast Conference (ECC) rival Queens College on Tuesday, September 25. The Panthers posted a 3-0 win to improve to 11-4 overall and 1-1 in the ECC, while Queens falls to 6-6 overall and 0-1 in conference action.

Game one was tight throughout, however with the scored knotted at 21 the Panthers used a 7-1 run to take a 28-22 edge. Queens responded by taking four of the next five points to pull within two, 29-27, before falling 30-27. Queens held a 21-17 lead late in game two, but Adelphi rallied late, scoring 13 of the last 19 points to collect the 30-27 win.

Game three was back and forth at the start until Adelphi used another late run to put the match away. With the score 20-19 the Panthers went on a 9-1 run that included six straight points by Brittany Addeo to close out the match with a 30-21 win.

Natalie Edward led the Knights with 12 kills, while Marianna Megas chipped in 23 assists.

Kathleen Carney led the Adelphi attack with nine kills, while Samantha Johnston recorded a game-high eight digs and Addeo picked up 27 assists.

Adelphi returns to action on October 5 when they travel to Oakdale, New York to face Pace.
