Game One/Game Two

Colchester, VT - The Adelphi University volleyball team swept a pair of matches in a tri-meet hosted by St. Michael's at the Ross Sports Center. In the opener, the University of Massachusetts Lowell (5-10, 3-3 NE-10) defeated the Purple Knights, 3-0 (30-15, 30-25, 30-25), in a Northeast-10 conference match. In the second contest, Adelphi University (10-4) bested the River Hawks, 3-1 (28-30, 30-27, 30-25, 30-18), and in the finale, the Panthers downed Saint Michael's, 3-0 (32-30, 30-17, 30-17).

In the opener, freshmen Sarah Coscia (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Jillian Hadder (Yucaipai, Calif.) combined for 31 kills, with Hadder tallying a match-high 17, as UMass Lowell swept the Purple Knights. For Saint Michael's, senior Leslie Herwig (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) notched a team-best eight kills, while junior Stephanie Smetana (Independence, Mo./Truman) added 17 digs.

In the second match, Adelphi rebounded from a game-one loss to earn the come-from-behind victory. Brittany Addeo (Minden, Nev.) handed out 50 assists to lead the Panthers to victory, while for UMass Lowell, Hadder posted a team-best 14 kills.

In the final match, the Panthers earned their second win of the day, defeating the hosts. Adelphi fended off a Saint Michael's set point in the first game before easily winning the final two sets. Junior Samantha Johnston (Port Jervis, N.Y.) recorded five service aces for Adelphi in the win, while junior Amy Manougian (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth) tallied 29 assists for the Purple Knights in defeat.

All three teams return to action on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Saint Michael's visits conference-rival Saint Anselm College, UMass Lowell hosts Bentley College, and Adelphi hosts Queens College.
