Volleyball's Rally Against CW Post Falls Short, 3-2

Brookville, N.Y. - The Adelphi University Volleyball team traveled to Brookville, New York to open their 2007 East Coast Conference schedule against cross town rival CW Post. The Panthers found themselves down 2-0 early, but fought back to force a fifth game before falling, 3-2. The loss drops Adelphi to 8-4 overall and 0-1 in the ECC, while CW Post improves to 7-7 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

CW Post racked up 11 kills in games one and two, taking control of the match with identical 30-22 wins. However Adelphi battled back in games three and four. The Panthers posted 13 kills in game three and 16 in game four while holding the Pioneers to a total of 15 kills in those two games combined to pick up wins of 30-23 and 30-24.

Adelphi seemed to run out of gas in the fifth and final game, dropping the game 15-8 and the match 3-2.

Samantha Johnston and Kathleen Creegan both posted 14 kills, while Lauren Flanagan and Kathleen Carney also chipped in 11 kills apiece. Brittany Addeo racked up a game-high 53 digs, while Johnston added 21 digs.

Adelphi returns to action on September 22 when they travel to Colchester, Vermont to take on St. Michael's and UMass-Lowell.
