Volleyball Wins Two out of Three at LeMoyne Tournament

Syracuse, N.Y. - The Adelphi University volleyball team traveled to Syracuse, New York to compete in the LeMoyne College tournament on September 15 and 16. The Panthers won two out the three games, earning wins over Wilmington and UMass-Lowell to improve to 8-3 overall.

The Panthers took on host LeMoyne in game one, falling 3-0 by the score of 26-30, 26-30, 27-30. Audrey Goss and Lauren Flanagan led the attack for Adelphi, collecting 14 and 10 kills respectively. Brittany Addeo racked up 31 assists, while both Amy Williams and Jennifer McKenna collected 10 digs.

The second game was all Adelphi, as the Panthers cruised past Wilmington 3-0, 30-21, 30-19 and 30-19. Goss posted double-digit kills again with 11, while Addeo totaled 39 assists. Williams picked up a team-high 16 digs in the win.

Adelphi's third and final game of the tournament proved to be the toughest for the Panthers. UMass-Lowell pused Adelphi to the limit, but the Panthers came out on top, 3-2 with scores of 28-30, 30-23, 24-30, 30-28, 15-13. Both Kathleen Carney and Samantha Johnston posted 14 kills , while Addeo was credited with 49 assists. Williams and Johnston controlled the back row, picking up 25 and 21 digs apiece.

The Panthers are off to their best start since 2002 and return to action on Thursday, September 20 when they travel to Brookville, New York to take on conference rival C.W. Post.
