Baseball Drops Season Finale to C.W. Post, 5-4

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi baseball closed out the regular season on Sunday, May 6. The Panthers played host to C.W. Post and trailed, 3-0 early, but rallied in the seventh to take a 4-3 lead before falling 5-4. The loss drops Adelphi's record to 30-14 overall and 21-6 in conference play, while the Pioneers improve to 25-17 and 17-10 in the East Coast Conference.

The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the third and then added two more runs in the fourth to push their advantage to 3-0. The Panthers continued to trail by three runs into the bottom of the seventh when Chris Weidlein scored on a passed ball to cut the deficit to two runs. Ryan Boelsen followed that up with a run scoring single to center then a Rob DeGennaro triple scored two more runs to give the Panthers a 4-3 lead.

C.W. Post answered in the top of the eighth, scoring one run to knot the game at four. After holding the Panthers scoreless in the bottom of the eighth, the Pioneers fifth run of the game came across the plate to give C.W. Post the 5-4 victory.

The Panthers will return to action in the second round of the East Coast Conference playoffs after earning a first round bye.
