Men's Lacrosse Stunned By Molloy, 13-12

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's lacrosse team led 9-4 after two quarters, but were outscored, 9-3, in the third and fourth as Molloy College rallied to win, 13-12. The Panthers drop to 5-4 on the season and 1-1 in the ECC, while the Lions improve to 7-1 and 2-0 in league play.

The Panthers were deadlocked with Molloy at three after one period, but reeled off four straight goals to open the second quarter, two from Michael Gongas, to take a 7-3 lead with 5:06 left. Molloy got a goal back to cut the Adelphi edge to 7-4, but the Panthers ripped off two more goals in the last 1:43 to take a 9-4 bulge into halftime.

Molloy and Adelphi traded goals in the opening minutes of the third period and the Panther led 11-6 with 12:34 to play in the third quarter. From there on out it was all Molloy as the Lions scored six straight goals to take a 12-11 lead with 5:10 remaining in the game.

Ian Kuchta knotted the game at 12 off of an assist from Dale Pescitelli with 4:32 to play setting up the final minutes. Molloy's Dom Toscano scored the game winner with just 10 seconds on the clock to secure a 13-12 win for the Lions.

Molloy's Rob Humann made 11 saves in the win, while Devin Schneiderbauer made four saves for Adelphi.

The Panthers return to action on April 14 when they travel to Old Westbury, New York for a 1:00 pm meeting with NYIT.
