Baseball Falls To Kutztown, 7-6

Kutztown, PA - The Adelphi baseball team traveled to Kutztown, Pennsylvania on Thursday, April 5 to take on Kutztown University in a non-conference match-up. Kutztown led 7-1 after five innings, but the Panthers rallied to close the gap to 7-6 after seven innings before the game was called due to poor weather. The loss drops Adelphi to 13-9 overall, while Kutztown improves to 22-2.

Ralph Tropiano and Rob DeGennaro led the way at the plate for Adelphi with two RBI. Tropiano was 2-3 with a run scored, while DeGennaro went 1-4 at the plate. Chris Weidlein also swung the bat well, going 3-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Jason Intelasano threw 3.2 innings, giving up two runs and striking out two, picking up the loss. Mike Bartlett faced five batters, giving up five earned runs, while Frank Valeriano and Mike Tobia combined to pitch two innings of scoreless relief.

Adelphi trailed 7-1 after five innings, but picked up four runs on four hits in the top of the sixth to pull within two, 7-5. DeGennaro drove in two of the Panthers four runs in the inning. After holding Kutztown scoreless in the bottom of the sixth, the Panthers picked up a sixth run in the top of the seventh before the game was called due to poor weather conditions.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, April 7 when they travel to Bronxville, New York to face Concordia College in an East Coast Conference double header.
