The Adelphi University baseball team played host to East Coast Conference opponent Queens College on Tuesday, April 3. The Panthers took advantage of hot bats early, putting all 12 of their runs on the board in the first five innings, picking up a 12-5 win. The victory raises Adelphi's record to 13-8 overall and 6-2 in the conference, while Queens falls to 3-12 overall and 1-7 in conference play.
Mike Connors and Bill Melillo led the offensive charge for Adelphi. Connors collected a team-high five RBI, going 3-3 with two doubles and a homerun, while Melillo went 1-3 with two runs scored and chipped in a three-run home run. Robert Paccione also had a good day at the plate, going 1-3 with two run scored and a two-run home run.
Mike McLasky got it done on the mound for the Panthers, pitching seven strong innings to secure the win. In his seven innings, McLasky struck out eight, walked one and allowed just one earned run. Chris Lewandowski and Jason Intelasano combined to pitch two innings of on hit no run relief.
Adelphi returns to action on Thursday, April 5 when they travel to Kutztown, Pennsylvania for a meeting with Kutztown University.
