The #4 Adelphi University women's lacrosse team completed its regular season with a convincing 24-12 win over Bryant College this afternoon. The Panthers improve to 13-2 while the Bulldogs fall to 9-5.

The Panthers dominated from start to finish, outshooting its host, 48-27. They also held a 22-15 draw control advantage. Adelphi trailed just once in the contest as Bryant struck first in the fifth minute to lead 1-0. Back-to-back goals by L. Lopez and Tumulty at 24:59 and 24:23, respectively, put the Panthers up for good.
The game remained tight through the first 20 minutes, tying three times. Tied 4-4 at 10:18, Adelphi closed the half on a 7-2 run to lead, 11-6, at intermission.
The Panthers continued their rally in the second half, with a 7-1 effort capped by a goal from freshman Brittany Fronczak on a feed from freshman Holly Burke at 16:39 to make it an 18-7 game. The Bulldogs fought back, connecting for five unanswered goals to close the gap, 18-12, with 9:11 remaining. This would prove to be their last goal as Adelphi surged ahead on a 6-0 run. Maggiotta tallied three of her goals in the effort including the final shot on an assist from senior Meghan Blume.
Senior Allyson Murphy had two saves in recording the win. Freshman Caitlin Fitzpatrick stood in goal in the second half, making six stops.
The Panthers complete their 2007 season with 13 wins and just two losses and despite a #4 ranking in the IWLCA Coaches Poll and a #3 spot in the last NCAA North Regional poll (4/25), their post-season chances are slim. Stonehill and C.W. Post are No.1 and 2 in the region and typically the top two teams from the North and the South, which includes West Chester and Lock Haven, are selected to advance to the Final Four. The NCAA selection show will take place on Sunday, May 6 between 9:00-10:00 p.m.
