The Adelphi baseball team traveled to Pleasantville, New York on April 24 for a non-conference meeting with Pace. The Panthers committed five errors and could muster just one run, falling 11-1. The loss snaps Adelphi's 12-game win streak, while dropping their overall record to 25-10, while Pace improves to 22-20.
Joe Maranino knocked in Adelphi's only run when he singled in the fifth, driving in Bobby Calca and pulling Adelphi within two runs, 3-1. However, Pace would respond in the bottom of the fifth, scoring two runs on two hits and taking advantage of two Panther errors to extend their lead to 5-1.
The score would stay 5-1 until the bottom of the seventh and eight innings when the Setters added three runs in each inning to collect an 11-1 win.
Six Adelphi pitchers took the mound in the loss, while starter Mike Bartlett was credited with the loss after tossing 2.1 innings and allowing three runs while striking out one.
Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday, April 25 when they play host to Dowling College at 3:30 pm.
