Softball Blanks New Haven

Game One|Game Two

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University softball team swept the University of New Haven, 3-0 and 2-0, in a home conference doubleheader yesterday afternoon at Janet L. Ficke Field. The Panthers extend their win streak to seven and improve to 24-8 and 12-2. The Chargers fall to 20-14 and 6-10.

Freshman Katie Brophy combined for 2-of-4 with three RBI in the contest. Sophomore Jessica Vogt was 3-for-6 with one run scored.

Game One
After a scoreless three innings, Adelphi picked up all of its three runs in the fourth inning. Junior Julie Schaper doubled to bring home Vogt and sophomore Diana DiPiano. Brophy drove in Schaper for the final run.

Schaper picked up the win, striking out 10.

Adelphi had three runs on six hits with one error. New Haven had no runs on eight hits with no errors.

Game Two
Despite five hits in the first five innings, the Panthers were unable to score. The drought ended in the sixth when Brophy doubled to drive in Schaper and senior Alana daSilva for the win.

Senior Sheila Feldman allowed just three hits on the mound, striking out six.

Adelphi had two runs on seven hits with one error. New Haven had no runs on three hits with one error.

The Panthers return to action today, as they travel to Rockville Centre to take on Molloy College at 3:00 p.m.
