The Adelphi University baseball team traveled to Flushing, New York on Wednesday, April 11 for a conference game with Queens College. The Panther bats came alive, posting 14 runs on 18 hits to double up the Knights, 14-7. The victory raises Adelphi's overall record to 17-9 and 10-2 in the East Coast Conference (ECC), while Queens falls to 3-16 overall and 1-10 in conference play.
Robert Paccione exploded, accounting for half of Adelphi's 14 runs. Paccione was 4-5 from the plate with a career-high six RBI and a run scored, including two doubles. Ryan Boelsen, Ralph Tropiano and Mike Colonna drove in two runs each. Boelsen was 4-6 with a double and three runs scored, while Tropiano was 2-5 with three runs scored and Colonna connected once in six plate appearances.
Mike Scudero collected the win, pitching 6.1 innings, striking out seven and giving up just six earned runs. Mike Mongiello and Teddy Rohrs combined to pitch 2.2 innings of one-hit, scoreless relief.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, April 14 when they travel to Rockville Centre, N.Y. for a noon meeting with Molloy College.
