Women's Lacrosse Rolls Past Bentley, 15-4

Garden City, N.Y. - Sophomore Rachel Ray tallied three goals and three assists to lead the #1 Adelphi University women's lacrosse team to a 15-4 victory over Bentley College on Sunday afternoon at Stiles Field. The Panthers improve to 1-0 while the Falcons fall to 0-2.

Senior Lauren Lopez scored the first of her three goals at 29:05. Senior Meghan Blume followed with back-to-back points, two of her four on the day, to make it a 3-0 lead in the 5th minute. Freshman Allison Tumulty tallied her first collegiate goal less than a minute later on an assist by Ray to push the advantage to 4-0. Bentley got on board in the 8th minute, but the Panthers responded on a 6-0 run capped by an unassisted goal from freshman Holly Burke with 23 seconds remaining.

Bentley struck first in the second half, opening on a 3-1 run to make it an 11-4 game with 24:21 left in regulation. Adelphi rattled off four unanswered goals, one from freshman Nicole Lieberman as the defending NCAA Champions cruised to victory.

Bentley was led by Jaclyn Griffin with two goals. Alyssa Ritchie had one goal and one assist.

Senior goalkeeper Allyson Murphy had seven saves. Christina Guglielmo had 11 saves for Bentley.

The Panthers return to action on March 14 as they host Assumption College at 4:00 p.m.
