The Adelphi baseball team made four errors, three in the third inning that contributed to six Dominican runs in a 7-5 non-conference loss. The defeat drops the Panthers to 11-6 overall, while the Chargers even their record at 6-6.
Ryan Boelsen led the way at the plate for Adelphi, going 2-5 with an RBI and a run scored, while Mike Testani was 2-4 with a run scored and Ralph Tropiano was 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Dominican was paced by Jose Made, who was 2-4 with one RBI and one run scored and Ed Dolan went 1-2 with an RBI a run scored and two walks.
The Chargers to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on an Ed Dolan home run and then tacked on six more runs in the top of the third to take a commanding 7-0 lead. In the third Dominican scored their six runs on five hits, including a two-run bunt.
The Panthers got four runs back in the bottom of the third on a Boelsen double and singles from Bill Melillo and Tropiano. Adelphi scored a fifth run in the bottom of the fifth, but could not get any closer, falling 7-5.
Mike Bartlett was credited with the loss, pitching three innings and allowing seven runs, five earned. Jason Intelasano, Dave Salemi and Teddy Rohrs combined to pitch six innings of three hit no run relief for Adelphi.
Matt Dilgen earned the win, throwing six innings of nine hit, three run baseball for Dominican.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, March 31 when they play host to St. Thomas Aquinas in an East Coast Conference double header.
