Mike McLasky threw eight innings of seven-hit no run baseball to help Adelphi push it's current win streak to six games with a 9-0 win over visiting Queens College. The victory raises the Panthers overall record to 11-5 and their East Coast Conference (ECC) mark to 4-0, while the Knights fall to 2-8 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
Bill Melillo led the way for Adelphi at the plate, going 2-4 with two RBI and one run scored, including a solo home run in the fifth inning. Rob DeGennaro and Ryan Boelsen were also 2-4, with DeGennaro adding two RBI and Boelsen a RBI and a run.
McLasky struck out eight in the win, walking just two and raised his record to 3-1. Queen's Joseph Manfre was credited with the loss.
The Panthers scored two runs in each of the first two innings, scoring both runs in the first on doubles by Boelsen and Melillo and both runs in the second on singles by Mike Colonna and DeGennaro. From there Adelphi cruised, adding two runs in the bottom of the fourth and three in the bottom of the fifth to close out the scoring.
The Panthers return to action on Thursday, March 29 when they play host to Dominican College.
