Baseball Drops 14-8 Decision to Nova Southeastern

Fort Lauderdale, FL - The Adelphi baseball team dropped a 14-8 decision to Nova Southeastern on March 14. The Panthers led 7-3 heading into the sixth inning but the host Sharks scored seven runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 10-7 lead on the way to a 14-8 victory. The loss drops Adelphi to 5-4 overall while Nova improves to 20-4.

Mike Testani led the Panther offense, going 3-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. Teammates Rob DeGennaro (1-2) and James Conklin (1-3) added two RBI apiece, while Bill Melillo scored three runs and drove in two more.

Mike Bartlett got the start, pitching five innings of four run baseball before the bullpen took over. Mike Tobia allowed two runs in a third of an inning and was credited with the loss, while Frank Valeriano pitched an inning and a third of one run baseball to close out the game.

Adelphi returns to action on Thursday, March 15 when they take on Umass-Lowell for the fifth time this season.
