Senior Lauren Lopez tallied four goals in a 16-0 win for the #2 Adelphi University Women's Lacrosse team over Assumption College this afternoon at Stiles Field. The Panthers improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Greyhounds drop to 0-1.
Eleven different players scored in all for the Panthers, who outshot its opponent 24-8. Lopez collected four of the first five Adelphi goals in a 13-0 first half run. Sophomore Rachel Ray assisted on two, while chipping in one goal.
Sophomore Jeannine Holz along with freshmen Alyssa LaBosco and Nicole Lieberman added three more points in the first ten minutes of the second half. The Panthers offense then shut down its attack and coasted to victory.
All of Adelphi's goalkeepers saw action today with senior Allison Murphy collecting the win with three saves in 21 minutes in the net. Freshman Caitlin Fitzpatrick also had three saves in her first collegiate appearance, while sophomore Christina Kozakiewicz closed out the last 15:05 with one stop. Assumption's Nicole Johnson had three saves.
Adelphi returns to action this Sunday, March 18, as they travel to Manchester, New Hampshire to take on St. Anselm at 12 noon.
