Box Score

Smithfield, RI - The Adelphi men's lacrosse team traveled to Smithfield, Rhode Island on Saturday, February 24 for a match-up with ninth ranked Bryant College. Dale Pescitelli's (Shoreham, N.Y.) second goal of the game gave the Panthers a 6-2 lead and eventually the win. With the victory, Adelphi opens the 2007 season, 1-0, while Bryant falls to 0-1.

Jason Fietta (Syracuse, N.Y.) opened the scoring early, putting Adelphi ahead, 1-0, just 1:11 in the action. Bryant's Corey Crosbie responded two and a half minutes later to knot the game at one.

The Bulldogs took their first lead of the game with 9:58 remaining in the second period on a Kevin Hoagland goal. However, the Bryant lead was short lived as Fietta netted his second goal of the game just seconds before the half to tie things up at two apiece.

The third period was all Adelphi as the Panthers rattled off two unanswered goals, from Tyler Burton (Elbridge, N.Y.) and Fietta to exit the third with a 4-2 lead. Then Pescitelli opened the fourth with back-to-back goals to give the Panthers some breathing room, 6-2.

Bryant rallied back late scoring two goals in a span of seven seconds to close to within two goals, 6-4 and then netted a fifth goal with 26 ticks left on the clock, but could not tie the score, giving Adelphi a 6-5 win.

Devin Schneiderbauer (Pepperell, MA) picked up the win in his first collegiate appearance and made a game-high 18 saves, while Bryant's Michael Kennedy made seven saves and was credited with the loss.

Adelphi returns to action on March 3 when they travel to Syracuse, New York for a 1:00 pm showdown with #1 LeMoyne.
