Box Score

Brookville, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's basketball team fell behind host C.W. Post, 12-4, just 3:14 into the game and never recovered, falling 66-53. The loss drops the Panthers to 14-12 overall and 11-8 in the East Coast Conference, while the Pioneers improve to 16-10 overall and 12-7 in conference action.

Adelphi fell behind from the start as C.W. Post opened the action with a three-pointer, 52 seconds in and continued rolling, 12-4 lead before the Panthers could respond. Adelphi pulled to within five, 12-7, on a Kimani Blaize (Brooklyn, N.Y.) made three-pointer but Raul Mercedes jumper sparked a 15-7 run that gave C.W. Post a, 27-14, advantage with 11:38 remaining in the first half.

The Panthers regrouped late in the first half, out scoring the Pioneers, 10-2, over the final seven minutes of the first half to enter halftime trailing by just seven points, 38-31.

Mike Mosby (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) opened the second half with a made jumper that cut the C.W. Post cushion to five points, 38-33. However, that was as close as Adelphi would get as the Pioneers used a 12-4 run to take a 50-37 lead en route to a 66-53 victory.

C.W. Post placed three players in double figures, led by Brandon Butler's 16 points. Kenny Burkes also chipped in 15 points and five boards, while Mercedes scored 13.

Mosby led the Panther attack with 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, while Blaize added 12 points.

The Panthers close out the regular season at home on Saturday, February 24 when they play host to Molloy College at 7:30 pm.
