Box Score

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi men's basketball team shot 54 percent in the first half, while holding visiting Dowling to just 36 percent shooting, building a 37-20 halftime lead en route to a 65-44 win. The victory raises Adelphi's overall mark to 14-10, while improving their East Coast Conference record to 11-6. With the loss, Dowling falls to 6-18 overall and 5-12 in conference play.

Adelphi jumped on Dowling from the tip, sprinting out to a 20-5 lead just 7:03 into the action thanks in part to back-to-back three pointers from Kimani Blaize (Brooklyn, N.Y.). The Panthers continued their dominance, holding the Dowling to single digits until the 5:29 mark, when a David Seagers jumper pulled the Golden Lions to within 15, 26-11.

Over the next three minutes Adelphi would stretch their lead to 20 points, 35-15, on a Mike Mosby (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) lay-up before a Josh Lowe three-pointer cut the lead to 17, 37-20, going into halftime.

Blaize blitzed Dowling for five straight points in the opening minutes of the second half to push the Adelphi bulge to 42-20. The Golden Lions rallied back with a 7-0 run to cut the Adelphi lead to 15, 42-27, with 12:46 on the clock.

However, the Panthers responded with an 18-2 run over the next five and a half minutes to take their largest lead of the game, 60-29 with 6:51 to pay. Dowling would cut the Adelphi lead to 19 with 1:29 to play but could not get any closer, falling 65-44.

Seagers was the only Golden Lion in double figures, scoring 16 points and adding four rebounds.

Blaize led the Panthers with 19 points, including converting on five of seven three-point attempts. Blaize's third three-pointer gave him 264 made three-pointers for his career and the Adelphi all-time record. Mosby also reached double figures for Adelphi, scoring 14 points (12 in the first half) and pulling down seven rebounds.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, February 17 when they travel to Bridgeport, Connecticut for a 3:00 pm match-up.
