Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi men's basketball team played host to East Coast Conference opponent Concordia College on Wednesday, December 5, 2007. Alvin Vivican scored four of Adelphi's last seven points to help the Panther to a 63-59 victory. Concordia controlled the game early in the second half, taking a two point lead on five occasions in the first seven minutes of action. Adelphi came alive at the 12:09 mark when a Richard Byrd jumper sparked a 16-3 run that gave the Panthers their largest lead of the first half, 27-14 with 3:57 on the clock.

The Clippers closed the half on a 10-4 run, to pull within seven points, 31-24 at the end of the first half.

The second half started slow as Adelphi held Concordia to just five points in the first seven minutes and moved out to a 43-29 lead. From there the Clippers would battle back, chipping away at the Panther cushion until they closed what was an Adelphi 12 point bulge at the 4:38 mark down to just three points with 14 seconds remaining.

Richard Byrd pushed the Panther lead to five on the strength of two free throws with 11 seconds left, but a William Eason lay-up with four seconds on the clock pulled Concordia back to within three. But Pat Luptowski made one out of two free throws with two seconds left in regulation to give Adelphi a 63-59 lead and the win.

Eason led the Clippers with 15 points and six rebounds, while Torrence McGill chipped in 11 points. Dan Cunningham also reached double figures, adding 10 points and six rebounds.

Byrd was the high scorer for Adelphi with 14 points, while Vivican and Luptowski chipped in 13 each. Sky Khaleel led all players with eight rebounds.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, December 8 when they travel to West Haven, Connecticut to take on the University of New Haven Chargers.
