The Adelphi University women's basketball team defeated Concordia College, 85-36, on Wednesday night at Woodruff Hall. The Panthers extend their win streak to four as they improve to 4-3 on the season and 3-0 in the ECC. The Clippers fall to 0-6 and 0-3 in the ECC.
Senior Gianna Smith led all scorers with 21 points along with 11 rebounds. Junior Serita Lee also posted a double-double with 17 points and a game-high 13 boards. Junior Lisa Manetta contributed for 18 points, seven assists and four steals.
Adelphi led start to finish opening on a 25-7 run through 9:19. They held a comfortable 37-21 lead at half-time. The Panthers held the Clippers to just 17.9 percent (5-of-28) from the field and forced 15 of the 27 turnovers in the second half. In contrast, Adelphi was 18-of-36 (50 percent) with eight steals.
Adelphi also went to the line 17 times in the contest, compared with just
nine for Concordia.
Brittany Binnie and Shari Cordero each had six points for Concordia. Cordero pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, December 8, as they host Pace University in non-conference action at 3:00 p.m.
