Volleyball Advances to ECC Semi-Finals With, 3-1, Win Over Bridgeport

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi volleyball team hosted the University of Bridgeport in the first round of the East Coast Conference (ECC) tournament on Wednesday, November 7. The second seeded Panthers prevailed, 3-1 over the seventh seeded Purple Knights. The win raises Adelph's record to 27-6 overall, while Bridgeport falls to 20-17.

Adelphi battled through the first game, giving up just eight kills to Bridgeport and taking the game 30-22. Game two swung Bridgeport's way as the Purple Knights racked up 16 kills to Adelphi's 12 to even the score at one (22-30). The Panthers rolled the Purple Knights in the third game, 30-11 to take a 2-1 advantage en route to a 30-22 win in game four and a 3-1 match victory.

Lauren Flanagan led the attack with 13 kills, while Kathleen Creegan and Audrey Goss added 11 apiece. Brittany Addeo collected 46 assists and Amy Williams had a game-high 21 digs. Addeo and Creegan chipped in 11 digs each as Heather Mau also reached double digits with 10.

The Panthers keep on racking up program milestones as they push their record number of wins in a season to 27. This is also the first-ever ECC tournament win for the Panthers, who will take on No.3 seed New Haven in the semi-finals at Dowling on Friday, November 9.
