Volleyball Tops Southern CT, Falls to Bentley

Waltham, MA - The Adelphi University volleyball team traveled to Waltham, Massachusetts on Saturday, November 3 to take on Bentley and Southern Connecticut State. The Panthers topped Southern CT, 3-0, but fell to Bentley by the same score, closing out the regular season with a record of 26-6.

In Adelphi's, 3-0 win over Southern CT (30-16, 30-15, 30-22) Kathleen Carney posted 10 kills while Lauren Flanagan and Samantha Johnston picked up nine each. Brittany Addeo was credited with 33 assists and a team-high 12 digs.

Bentley jumped on Adelpi early in match two, taking the first game 30-14. The Panthers got stronger in game two, falling 30-23, but really found their rythmn in the third game, forcing Bentley to extra points before dropping the match 35-33.

Carney and Johnston both had double digit kills, with 12 and 11 respectively. Addeo led the team in assists with 34, while Amy Williams posted 15 digs and Johnston and Jennifer McKenna added 12 each.

The win over Southern CT ran Adelphi's school record win streak to 11 games and gave the Panthers a new school record for wins with 26.

Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday, November 7 when they play host to Bridgeport in the first round of the ECC tournament.
